M83 were formed in Antibes, France, in 2001 by Anthony Gonzalez and Nicolas Fromageau Formerly a duo, the group is now the sole output of Anthony Gonzalez. M83's gauzy aesthetic blends synth-driven moments of blissful serenity with blasts of white noise. M83 have provided remixes for Bloc Party, Depeche Mode, Bumblebeez and Goldfrapp. The band took their name from Messier 83 - a barred spiral galaxy 15 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra.
